Congratulations! You've got yourself a loaf of handmade sourdough bread!
Unlike grocery store bread, our sourdough is made in small batches with simple ingredients and no artificial preservatives. A little care will help keep it fresh and delicious.
Enjoying Your Bread
Sourdough is best enjoyed within 2–3 days of baking.
Storing Your Sourdough
Room Temperature: Keep your bread in a bread bag, bread box, or loosely wrapped in a clean kitchen towel for short-term storage.
Keep It Whole: Slice only what you need. An unsliced loaf stays fresh longer.
Avoid the Refrigerator: Refrigeration causes bread to stale faster.
For loaves containing cheese or other perishable ingredients, follow any additional refrigeration instructions provided with your bread.
Freezing Your Sourdough
Not planning to finish your loaf within a few days? Freeze it!
Slice your loaf or leave it whole.
Wrap tightly and place in a freezer-safe bag.
Freeze for up to 3 months for the best quality.
Toast slices directly from frozen, or thaw the whole loaf before reheating.
A little tip: Freezing individual slices means fresh sourdough toast is always just a few minutes away!
Refreshing Your Sourdough
Want that freshly baked crust again?
For a whole loaf:
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
Lightly mist the crust with water, if desired.
Warm for approximately 10–15 minutes, until heated through.
Let cool slightly before slicing.
For individual slices:
Pop them in the toaster until warm and crisp!
A Little About Our Bread
Every Artisan Acre sourdough loaf begins with a living sourdough starter — a naturally fermented mixture of flour and water. Wild yeast and beneficial bacteria work together to help our dough rise, develop flavor, and create that wonderful sourdough texture.
Good bread takes time, and we think it's worth the wait.
